My favorite Trip

I went to a Congress of Social Comunication at Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2005. This is the most significant trip of my life because I learned a lot of things of my carrer and I met people of Latin America relationated with the comunication and communicology.

Academics, estudients and intelectuals came of Argentina, México, Uruguay and Chile mainly. I went with two friends in journalism: Pia and Igora. They were a year older than me and are now graduates.

We visited tipical places of Argentina the days previous to the Congress, like Caminito, the Boca stadium, Palermo neighborhood, etc.

We ate a lot of pizza, meat and pastas. Everything was so good that always we asked for more. We ended up in bankruptcy, but it was worth.

When we arrived to Santiago evrything was so gray. Return to the university and our homes, as usual, was sad. Anyway, gradually we adapt to the harsh reality of returning to Chile and our ordinaries lifes.

Meanwhile, Igora started a diet for everything we ate in the trip. Pia and I were assumed haha…

I always remember that trip because I did it with two good friends, we had fun and met people with common interests of other countries, which helped me to my profesional training.

The journalist Naomi Klein

I admire to Canadian journalist Naomi Klein. She is a researcher with a critical look of the economic model and the world order. His constants publications have international influence with in the democratic and antiglobalization socials movements.

His work in the media has been characterized by being independent. He has worked as a columnist for the progressive newspaper The Guardian of London and The Globe and Mail of Toronto.

Thanks to the results of their research and her written several books with a relevant academic and commercial success, such as "No Logo" (2001), "Fences and Windows" (2003) and "The Shock Doctrine" (2007), in addition to many newspaper articles and politicians. For her carrer she got the eleventh place in the Global Intellectuals Poll (the highest attained by a woman), a list of the world's most important thinkers who make together the magazine Prospect and Foreign Policy.

I admire her because she has managed to combine the reporting and investigation of the contingency with the compression current sociological phenomena. Also because even his books are extensive, but his writing is dynamic and deep.

The earthquake in a 18 floor

When the earthquake happenned I was in a number eighteen floor of a building in downtown Santiago, at a party with my friends. It was terrible, the building was moved a lot, people crashed into the walls, screamed and we fell to the floor because the movement was such that made everyone lose balance. It was devastating, I thought "we are going to die".

When the earthquake finished we realized that the building withstood really well, turned on the television and it inform us the magnitude of the disaster. Everyone was so shocked that immediately try to go to our houses, but the Transantiago had collapsed. We trying to communicate with our families, but telecommunications were also saturated. Only after three hours I get to my house, were all well OK.
